Cinema and Restaurant Loss: What the Submitted Southbury Documents Say
Published 9 March 2026

The submitted Planning Statement says the current site includes a multi-storey cinema and four food-and-beverage units. It also states the proposed scheme does not seek to retain or re-provide the existing cinema use.
The same document calculates a major net reduction in non-residential floorspace, from about 9,117 sqm existing to up to 2,093.7 sqm proposed, described as roughly a 77 percent reduction.
For many residents this is a major community impact issue, because it shifts the site away from an established leisure function and toward a much more housing-dominant model.
